Sizing Guide
One of the first questions asked by our customers is "what size weathervane
do I need"? "I don't want it to be too small or dominating my cupola".
Can you advise us? Yes, we will be happy to assist you on this very important aspect of the project. There is a general rule that answers this question being
for every foot of roofline an equal sum in inches is required plus a few extra.
As an example, a 24-foot, two car garage would be well served with a 24" weathervane plus or minus depending on the design of the weathervane figure.
Choosing the Proper Weathervane Size
Selecting the proper size for a custom weathervane involves
much more than measuring the width of a roof or cupola.
Every project has its own proportions, rooflines, architectural details,
and viewing distances. A weathervane that appears perfectly balanced on one
structure may look too small or too large on another.
At SkyArt Studio & Gallery, we evaluate the overall appearance of the building before recommending a final size. We consider roof pitch, cupola dimensions, building height, and the visual weight of the sculpture itself.
Our goal is always to create a finished installation that appears naturally proportioned from every viewing angle.
Every Commission Is Individually Evaluated
We encourage our customers to send photographs of their home, barn, garage, gazebo, or cupola whenever possible. Basic dimensions and a few photographs allow us to prepare recommendations that are appropriate for
the structure and the sculpture being commissioned.
Because every custom weathervane is individually handcrafted, we are
able to recommend dimensions that complement both the architecture
and the artwork rather than relying on standard stock sizes.
