Weathervanes by Sky Art Studio & Gallery

Handcrafted Copper Weathervanes Since 1999

SkyArt Studio & Gallery has specialized in handcrafted copper weathervanes since 1999. Each weathervane is individually sculpted and fabricated in copper, with careful attention to proportion, detail, balance, movement, and character.
Over the years, SkyArt Studio has created more than 500 weathervanes for private residences, barns, churches, schools, businesses, municipalities, and historic properties throughout the United States.

Our work includes original handcrafted weathervanes inspired by dogs, horses, wildlife, birds, aquatic life, traditional American forms, and one-of-a-kind custom designs. From a favorite breed or animal to a distinctive architectural subject, each piece begins as an individual design and is built by hand rather than mass produced.

Original Handcrafted Work

The heart of SkyArt Studio is original handcrafted work.
We design and create copper weathervanes that combine traditional American weathervane craftsmanship with the personality and detail of the subject itself. Dogs should look like their breed. Horses should have movement and strength. Birds and wildlife should feel alive. Traditional designs should retain the character and elegance that made them enduring architectural forms.  Each weathervane is formed, sculpted, assembled, and finished by hand, creating a piece that is both functional architectural ornament and individual artwork.

A Documented Historic Commission

One of SkyArt Studio’s notable commissioned projects was the recreation of the well-known witch-on-broomstick weathervane associated with the historic E.E. Dickinson & Co. property in Essex, Connecticut.

That project was documented in the published reference book Weathervanes of New England, which identifies Lori Rob of SkyArt Studio & Gallery as the maker of the reproduction. That recognition reflects the same attention to historic form, proportion, and craftsmanship that continues to guide our original work today.

Custom Weathervanes Made for the Individual Client

Every custom weathervane begins with an idea.

We work with homeowners, architects, contractors, schools, businesses, and institutions to develop designs suited to the architecture, scale, and personality of the property.

Whether the subject is a beloved dog, a horse, bird, fish, wild animal, traditional figure, family symbol, or completely original concept, our goal is to create a handcrafted copper weathervane that is distinctive, beautifully proportioned, and made to endure.

SkyArt Studio & Gallery is based in Meriden, Connecticut and continues to focus on what we have done for more than 25 years:

designing and creating original handcrafted copper weathervanes.

Built by Hand in Connecticut

SkyArt Studio & Gallery is based in Meriden, Connecticut, where each weathervane is individually designed and handcrafted in copper.

Our work is created using traditional metalworking methods and hand tools, with careful attention to proportion, form, surface detail, and finish. From the first pattern and formed copper sections to final assembly and finishing, each piece is made as an individual work rather than a mass-produced product.

That hands-on process is at the heart of SkyArt Studio and is what gives every weathervane its own character.
