School Pennant Weathervane
Our School Pennant Weathervane takes the familiar form of a traditional school pennant and transforms it into a distinctive piece of architectural ornament. Its long, tapered silhouette creates a strong horizontal presence against the sky while preserving the simple, recognizable character associated with school and collegiate pennants.
Handcrafted in copper by SkyArt Studio & Gallery, the School Pennant Weathervane was individually fabricated with careful attention to proportion, balance, detail, and durability. The silhouette construction creates a crisp profile that remains clearly recognizable when viewed from the ground.
This particular pennant was created to meet a specific customer requirement: the entire copper pennant was lead-coated. The specialized surface treatment gives the piece its distinctive muted appearance and demonstrates how SkyArt can adapt materials and fabrication details to meet the architectural or design requirements of an individual commission.
Pennants have long been used to identify schools, colleges, organizations, teams, and other institutions. Their simple tapered shape translates particularly well to architectural ornament, where a strong silhouette and clear proportions are important for visibility at a distance.
The School Pennant Weathervane carries that familiar form into handcrafted architectural metalwork. Lettering, dates, initials, school names, symbols, proportions, and other design details can be developed to create a pennant associated with a particular institution, building, or setting.
The proportions of the pennant can also be adapted to complement the architecture on which it will be displayed. This makes the form especially suitable for custom commissions where scale, mounting location, visibility, and surrounding architectural details must all be considered.

The School Pennant Weathervane comes with our standard assembly, including two copper balls, brass retainer rings, a brass directional set, and stainless-steel mast. We use high-quality materials and components throughout the assembly with an emphasis on durability, proper function, and long-term outdoor performance.
Our standard finish options include faux bronze, verdigris, or 23-karat gold leaf. Natural copper is also available and will gradually develop its own distinctive patina through exposure to the elements. The lead-coated surface shown on this particular School Pennant was produced specifically to meet the buyer’s requirements.
SkyArt Studio & Gallery can assist with proper sizing, installation questions, and custom design requirements for a School Pennant Weathervane.
