Rocky Mountain Compass Weathervane

The Rocky Mountain Compass Weathervane is a small custom design created at the request of one of our customers. Simple in scale and traditional in appearance, the compass adds a distinctive finishing detail without overwhelming the surrounding architecture.

Its compact design makes it especially suitable for a small cupola, gazebo, garden building, shed, or other modest structure where a larger sculptural weathervane may not be appropriate.

Handcrafted Custom Weathervane

We individually handcrafted the Rocky Mountain Compass Weathervane using durable metals and traditional weathervane construction methods. The balanced directional design creates a clean silhouette while preserving the functional character of a classic weathervane.

Each SkyArt Studio project begins with a customer’s idea. Whether the request is elaborate or intentionally simple, we carefully consider the size, proportions, materials, and intended installation setting.

Standard assemblies include two spun copper balls, solid brass directional markers, brass retaining rings, and a stainless-steel mast. Standard finishes include faux bronze or verdigris patina. Genuine 23-karat gold leaf is available for an additional charge.

Choosing the Right Size

The proper size depends on the height, roofline, viewing distance, and architectural scale of the building. Visit our Weathervane Sizing Guide for helpful information when selecting the right proportions for your setting.

A Simple Custom Accent

The Rocky Mountain Compass Weathervane is a good example of how a small, straightforward custom design can add personality and traditional character to a building. Its modest scale and familiar compass form make it an attractive architectural accent for a variety of settings.
