Quarter Horse Weathervane
The Quarter Horse Weathervane celebrates one of America’s most admired and versatile horse breeds. Known for its strength, agility, intelligence, and remarkable bursts of speed, the Quarter Horse has become an enduring symbol of the American West, ranch life, determination, and freedom.
Inspired by the powerful proportions and composed presence of the Quarter Horse, this handcrafted copper weathervane creates a graceful yet commanding architectural statement. Its full-bodied construction and carefully sculpted form allow the horse to stand out beautifully against the sky.
Handcrafted Copper Weathervane
We created the Quarter Horse Weathervane during the early years of SkyArt Studio as a custom commission for a customer in Oklahoma. The project gave us the opportunity to capture the strength and distinctive character of this celebrated American breed in sculptural copper.
We individually hand sculpt every Quarter Horse Weathervane in copper. We carefully shape the horse’s strong body, expressive head, flowing mane and tail, and balanced proportions to give the sculpture depth, movement, and personality.
The original Quarter Horse was finished in natural copper with a soft brown patina. Genuine 23-karat gold leaf was applied to the lower legs, creating an elegant contrast and emphasizing the horse’s graceful stance.
Display the Quarter Horse Weathervane on a home, barn, stable, ranch, cupola, gazebo, or equestrian building.
Standard assemblies include two spun copper balls, solid brass directional markers, brass retaining rings, and a stainless-steel mast. Standard finishes include faux bronze or verdigris patina. Genuine 23-karat gold leaf is available for an additional charge.
Choosing the Right Size
The proper size depends on the height, roofline, viewing distance, and architectural scale of the building. Visit our Weathervane Sizing Guide for helpful information when selecting the right proportions for your setting.
