Percherons Weathervane
The Percherons Weathervane celebrates the strength, grace, and working heritage of one of the world’s most admired draft horse breeds. Known for their powerful build, steady temperament, intelligence, and willingness to work, Percherons have long been associated with strength, endurance, reliability, and partnership.
Originating in France, the Percheron developed a reputation as an exceptionally versatile working horse. Its combination of muscular power, endurance, and surprisingly graceful movement made the breed valuable for agriculture, transportation, and heavy draft work. Percherons later became especially popular in America, where they became an important part of the country’s agricultural heritage.
Inspired by the distinctive character of these magnificent horses, this handcrafted copper weathervane features two Percherons moving together in a beautifully balanced composition. Their muscular bodies, flowing manes and tails, and strong forward movement give the sculpture both power and elegance.
The pairing of the two horses is an important part of the design. Moving together, they suggest companionship, teamwork, and the long partnership between draft horses and the people who depended upon them. Their substantial forms create a commanding silhouette against the sky while the movement of their legs, manes, and tails keeps the composition lively and graceful.
Handcrafted Copper Weathervane
We individually hand sculpt every Percherons Weathervane in copper. Careful attention is given to the horses’ heads, necks, musculature, legs, manes, tails, and overall proportions so the finished piece captures both the substantial strength and graceful movement of the breed.
Sculpting two horses within a single weathervane requires careful attention to balance and composition. Each horse must have its own recognizable form and character while the two figures must also work together as a unified sculpture. The positioning of their bodies and legs creates depth and movement while preserving a strong silhouette when the weathervane is viewed from a distance.
The paired horses create an especially striking architectural statement and give the weathervane a strong sense of motion, companionship, and purpose. Display the Percherons Weathervane on a home, barn, stable, cupola, gazebo, or equestrian building.
Choosing the right size is important for proper visibility and proportion. Visit our weathervane sizing guide to help determine the best size for your home, barn, stable, or cupola.
