Kids with Kites Weathervane
The Kids with Kites Weathervane captures one of childhood’s simplest pleasures — running into the wind with a kite rising overhead. The figures, kite, and sweeping lines of the composition create a wonderful sense of movement, turning an everyday childhood memory into handcrafted architectural art.
At approximately 30 inches wide, the sculpted motif was designed to create a distinctive silhouette against the open sky while preserving the personality and detail of the figures.
A Celebration of Childhood and the Wind
Few images evoke carefree childhood quite like flying a kite. It is a moment built around the very element a weathervane is designed to follow: the wind.
In this design, SkyArt brings those two ideas together. The children provide the movement and personality, while the kite visually connects the sculpture to the changing air around it. The result is playful without becoming whimsical decoration — a figurative work of art with warmth, motion, and character.
Kites themselves have a remarkable history extending far beyond childhood recreation. The Smithsonian Institution preserves kites and kite imagery in its collections and explores their long relationship with art, culture, experimentation, and flight.

Handcrafted Copper Sculpture
The Kids with Kites Weathervane is individually handcrafted by SkyArt Studio & Gallery using traditional metalworking and sculptural techniques.
Rather than being produced as a flat silhouette, the figures are formed to create dimension, depth, and visual interest from multiple viewpoints. The completed sculpture is designed to become an architectural focal point while retaining the character of the original artwork.
Available finishes include faux bronze, verdigris patina, and 23-karat gold leaf.
