Griffin Mascot Weathervane

The Griffin Mascot Weathervane celebrates one of the most distinctive creatures of ancient legend and heraldic tradition. With the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, the griffin has long symbolized courage, strength, vigilance, leadership, and protection.

This handcrafted copper weathervane gives the legendary creature a bold and spirited personality. Its upright stance, raised claw, curling tail, powerful body, and dramatically layered wings create a lively sculptural presence that stands out beautifully against the sky.

Handcrafted Copper Weathervane

We individually hand sculpt every Griffin Mascot Weathervane in copper. We carefully form the griffin’s expressive head, curved beak, sculpted body, powerful legs, raised claw, flowing tail, and distinctive layered wings.

The three-dimensional swell-body construction gives the figure depth and character from every viewing angle. In addition, the hand-shaped copper surfaces catch the light beautifully and emphasize the sculptural details throughout the design.

Each weathervane begins as a custom commission, allowing us to create a distinctive work of functional architectural art. Display the Griffin Mascot Weathervane on a school, academic building, home, cupola, pavilion, or other architectural setting.

Standard finishes include faux bronze or verdigris patina. Genuine 23-karat gold leaf is available for an additional charge.

Standard assemblies include two spun copper balls, solid brass directional markers, brass retaining rings, and a stainless-steel mast.

Choosing the Right Size

The proper size depends on the height, roofline, viewing distance, and scale of the building. Therefore, visit our Weathervane Sizing Guide for helpful information when choosing the right proportions for your setting.

A Symbol of Strength and Vigilance

For centuries, the griffin has combined the qualities traditionally associated with two powerful animals: the strength of the lion and the keen vision of the eagle. As a result, the griffin became a lasting symbol of courage, guardianship, pride, and watchfulness.

Those qualities also make the Griffin Mascot Weathervane especially well suited to schools, institutions, and organizations that use the griffin as a symbol or mascot. Its bold silhouette and expressive copper form create a memorable architectural piece filled with character and tradition.
