Bugler Weathervane
Our Bugler Weathervane captures the unmistakable profile of a military bugler sounding his horn. The forward stance of the figure and raised bugle create a strong silhouette that reads clearly against the sky while recalling an important tradition in American military history.
The design began more than twenty years ago when a customer brought SkyArt Studio & Gallery an image of a bugler and asked us to transform it into a working weathervane. We adapted the original image to create a balanced, functional design while preserving the character and movement of the figure.
Unlike most of our work, which is handcrafted in copper, this particular Bugler Weathervane was fabricated in aluminum at the customer’s request. The project is a good example of how an existing image or idea can become the starting point for an individually designed custom weathervane.
Buglers have long played an important role in military life, using distinctive bugle calls to communicate orders and mark events throughout the day. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History collection of military bugles includes an American regulation-style infantry bugle dating from the Civil War era and provides an interesting glimpse into this military tradition.

The weathervane comes with our standard assembly, including two copper balls, brass retainer rings, a brass directional set, and stainless-steel mast.
SkyArt Studio & Gallery can assist with proper sizing, installation questions, and custom design requirements to ensure the finished weathervane is appropriately scaled for its setting.
