Box Turtle Weathervane
The Box Turtle Weathervane captures the unmistakable shape and quiet character of one of North America’s most familiar woodland turtles. With its high-domed shell, extended head, sturdy legs, and gently curved profile, the box turtle translates beautifully into a sculptural weathervane.
Handcrafted in dimensional copper, this swell-bodied design has substantial depth and personality. Carefully shaped shell contours, facial features, and individually formed legs create a lively, recognizable figure while maintaining a strong silhouette designed to be seen clearly against the open sky.
A Familiar Visitor to Woodland Gardens
Eastern box turtles are primarily land-dwelling turtles found in woodlands, field edges, thickets, marshes, and other protected habitats. Their distinctive domed shells and slow, deliberate movements have made them familiar and welcome visitors throughout much of the eastern United States.
The Box Turtle Weathervane is a charming choice for country homes, woodland properties, garden buildings, nature centers, cabins, barns, and anyone with an appreciation for native wildlife.

Handcrafted Copper Construction
Each Box Turtle Weathervane is individually handcrafted using traditional metalworking techniques. The dimensional copper body and rounded shell are carefully shaped and assembled to create a substantial sculptural figure with strength, balance, and lasting visual appeal.
The weathervane is supplied with SkyArt Studio’s standard assembly, including two copper balls, brass retainer rings, a brass directional set, and a stainless-steel mast.
Available finishes include natural copper, faux bronze, verdigris patina, and genuine 23-karat gold leaf.
Choosing the Right Size
Proper scale is important when selecting a weathervane. Roof height, viewing distance, and the overall proportions of the structure should all be considered before choosing a size.
