Gazebo

Gazebo

The gazebo is a small, sometimes octagonal or turret-style building often seen in a garden or a spacious public area.  They have been transforming outdoor space since the days of the Egyptians.

Gazebo structures are freestanding or can attach to a garden wall, with a complete roof and open on all sides.  They provide shade and shelter from the rain.  In addition, they serve as a place to rest while acting as an ornamental feature.  They are ideal for entertaining guests outdoors.  Some gazebos in public parks are large enough to serve as a bandstand.

In North America and England, construction is made of wood and standard roofing materials, such as shingles.  The walls also come with screens to aid in excluding flying insects.

A weather vane is a perfect accent for crowning this garden pavilion.
