- We would like to highlight an exhibition that ran from June 23, 2021 through January 2, 2022 at the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City called American Weathervanes: The Art of the Winds | American Folk Art Museum.
In addition to the stunning images online for public view today, there were a series of free, virtual programs organized in conjunction with the exhibition. You can visit the Museum’s YouTube page to watch recordings of each program.
We loved the expertise and perspective provided by Rober Shaw an integral figure in the formation and video presentation of the program Virtual Insights: Weathervanes in Context – YouTube . In this video Mr. Shaw speaks about the very first Weathervane created in the world, weathervane sculptures in Europe, the influences of European ideas and how weathervanes took off here in American after the civil war. A fascinating history is presented and worth a virtual visit. We are formally introducing the La Petite Weathervane. Small hand-crafted copper weathervanes suitable for small buildings such as Gazebos, Garden Sheds, Gates, Small Garages, and Pool Houses. Our artistic goals have never changed. We’re taking our extensive experience in large scale weathervane making to a smaller scale figure that incorporates volumetric crafting for organic figure sculpture.
Our mission is to provide the aesthetic pleasure of your weathervane as an expression of you.
- Coming in 2023*
We will be introducing 5 new designs to add to our 18-figure collection.
We will also be creating each La Petite figure as standalone figures with base stands.
We now offer this “category” for custom work. Custom orders will include shop drawings.
